On Monday, Portland—the current hotbed for craft cider in the U.S.—will welcome its newest cidery: Alter Ego. Alter Ego Cider will launch with an event at Coopers Hall on Monday, June 23, in the midst of Oregon Cider Week.
Alter Ego is the product of three partners, two of which are winemakers. Ann Hubatch and Nate Wall are both Northwest winemakers who, according to the Portland Business Journal, will approach their cidermaking with a winemaker’s perspective and approach. The third partner is Kris Wall. Out of the box, the new Alter Ego Cider will be serving up an apple and a red raspberry cider, with all fruit coming from sources in the Northwest. Initially, the ciders will be available in kegs, with bottled version said to be coming by the end of the year.
Alter Ego launches while all cider eyes are on Portland and Oregon. Today kicks off Oregon Cider Week with the Portland Cider Summit, occurring today and tomorrow, as the centerpiece. Seventeen different cideries will be represented at the Portland Cider Summit.
