2 Towns’ “Outsider” pours with a substantial carbonation, introducing a pretty, foaming head before settling down to a slightly cloudy, light gold cider. One might expect a tad of funk on the nose, but instead the “Outsider” gives us pure, straightforward, fresh apple aroma. A hint of peach and a nod to lemon is sprinkled under the apple aromas. It’s medium bodied cider that us given its substance from a rich acid core, sugar weight and slight tannic notes. On the palate the sweet apple flavors dominate. In this respect the “Outsider” is a one trick pony. However, that central apple note is delicious, strikes a pure note and doesn’t stray into Candyland. The tannic structure helps deliver a medium to long finish. A very nice cider that should please many.
