Bristol Cider “Original” Hard Apple

bristolOriginalClear, sparkling and muted gold in color, the “Original” from Bristol is the cidery’s most popular bottling. Aromatically this is sweet, ripe and apply. Just a hint of something floral barges in on the apple parade. Light to medium in body the “Original” offers up prickly effervescence, little or no impact of alcohol (7.5%) and shows off a structure built around a strong streak of acid and lingering soft tannin. Interestingly (and happily) this most popular of Bristol’s offerings is not driven sugar. Yes, there is a note of sweet apple sugar in the taste, but is tart apple, lime and slight hints of herb that round out the flavors. The finish isn’t too long, but who cares. This is really well-built, refreshing cider that delivers what it promises—straight ahead apple goodness that doesn’t pander
