Another amber-colored beauty from Westcott Bay with its clear and shimmering visual profile. The nose delivers fresh cooked apple aromas, a hint of the cellar, something sweet and a collar of December spices. This is light to medium in weight, offers crisp acidity and clingy tannins. The effervescence is as slight as it can be while still being. As the label suggests, this is a sweet cider but there is no hint of the cloy, thanks to it not being overly sweet and the dashing acidity. The flavors are ripe, delicious apple in character with a mustiness, woody character, and slate note playing a careful and welcome second fiddle. The finish is apply and long and refreshing. This Semi-Dry from Westcott Bay is produced from the 2013 harvest of traditional cider apples off of the cidery’s orchard on the San Juan Islands.
